Meet Collin

Collin has been a public schools educator for 19 years. Born into a family of educators, he is passionate about public education.

Collin became a special education teacher to change lives. His current position includes special education teacher and equity lead at 'Transition Plus Services' in Minneapolis Public Schools. He has worked at T-Plus for the last seven years and has worked as an educator, coach, and activity coordinator for 19 of the past 25 years. Transition Plus is a school for special education students ages 18-21. Collin is passionate about Project Based Learning, social emotional learning, equity, and restorative practices and believes that relationships are vital to education.

Collin understands that the pandemic has been detrimental to learning, but he is firm in his belief that the classroom is where learning should take place, and he wants to assist students in transitioning back to the classroom. Collin opposes privatizing our public schools.

Collin grew up Staples, Minnesota and graduated with a B.A. in Elementary Education & Coaching from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. He has an M.A. in Autism Spectrum Disorder from Concordia University in St. Paul. He lives with Mark, his partner of 11 years and their dog Hijinx.
